Express Entry Immigration Programs
The Express Entry system manages applications for three federal immigration programs.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Canadian Experience Class is designed for individuals who already have skilled work experience in Canada. Many international graduates and temporary foreign workers use this pathway to transition to permanent residence.
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program is designed for professionals with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada. Applicants are evaluated based on factors such as education, language proficiency, and skilled work experience.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is intended for individuals working in skilled trades such as construction, industrial work, and manufacturing. This program helps Canada address labour shortages in key industries.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
After creating an Express Entry profile, candidates receive a CRS score based on several factors including:
- Age
- Education
- Language test results
- Work experience
- Canadian job offers
- Provincial nominations
Higher CRS scores increase the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
With the help of our Express Entry Consultant, we review your profile and provide guidance on strategies that may help improve your CRS score.

The basic requirements under the FSW and CEC program are as follows:

SKILLED WORK EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have at least one year of skilled work experience in an occupation classified under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. The work experience can be full-time or an equivalent amount of part-time work.

LANGUAGE ABILITIES
Applicants must take an approved language test and achieve the minimum required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score. For the Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants must obtain at least CLB 7. For the Canadian Experience Class, language requirements vary depending on the occupation category.

EDUCATION
Applicants under the Federal Skilled Worker Program must provide proof of completing at least secondary school in Canada. If the education was completed outside Canada, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required to confirm that the foreign education is equivalent to Canadian standards.

PROOF OF FUNDS AND ADMISSIBILITY
Applicants applying through the Federal Skilled Worker Program must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to settle in Canada. Applicants and their family members must also meet Canada’s admissibility requirements, including medical and security checks.
